Andrea Ducayet’s practice focuses on bankruptcy reorganization, with an emphasis on representing parties in large mass tort bankruptcy proceedings and serving as counsel to the trustees of 524(g) trusts formed in bankruptcy. She has been involved in complex bankruptcy proceedings of numerous debtors with mass tort liabilities and is familiar with the negotiation, confirmation, and implementation of plans of reorganization, establishing Section 524(g) asbestos trusts and the issues they present.
Andrea has led the trustees of numerous trusts through plan closing and establishment of the trusts. Thereafter, she, along with the other members of the SBEP bankruptcy team, continue to serve as general counsel to the trusts, counseling and advising the trustees on a broad range of legal issues involving corporate governance, claims resolution procedures, mediation, negotiation of contracts with vendors and service professionals, and matters involving potential and ongoing litigation. This requires understanding the interests of and working with the various constituent groups to ensure that the trust processes and pays claims equitably and efficiently.
